Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serdar Yay is a faculty member at İzmir Democracy University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Public Finance. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in İzmir. He graduated from Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Public Finance in 2012 and Anadolu University Faculty of Economics, Department of Public Administration in 2013.
He started his academic life as a research assistant at Süleyman Demirel University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Public Finance in 2013. In 2014, he graduated from Dokuz Eylül University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Public Finance with a thesis titled “Social Assistance in the Social Welfare State: Social Solidarity and Incentive Fund Implementation in Turkey” from Dokuz Eylül University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Public Finance in 2014 and his PhD thesis titled “Trust in Financial Institutions and Social Capital Relationship from the Perspective of Institutional Economics: Theory and Practice” in 2018.
In 2020, he was awarded the title of associate professor in the field of “economic thought” by the Inter-University Council. He has 16 books and many national-international articles and papers. He works on contemporary economic schools and economic thought, especially “law and economics”, “economic analysis of law”, “institutional economics”, “constitutional economics”.
